What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is the invisible way to straighten teeth using a series of custom-made, nearly undetectable Aligners. Invisalign is made with 3-D computer imaging technology, and has been proven effective in both clinical research and in practices nationwide. More than 70% of orthodontists in the US and Canada are certified to treat with Invisalign. So whether your teeth are crowded, too far apart or have shifted since wearing braces, you'll have a new reason to smile.
How does Invisalign work?
- Invisible, so no one can tell you're straightening your teeth. So now you can smile more during treatment as well as after.
- Removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing is no problem.
- Comfortable, because it has no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. And no metal and wires usually means you spend less time in your doctor's office getting adjustments.
- Invisalign® also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start, so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete
During an initial examination, you and you orthodontist will determine what you want to correct and your treatment options. The orthodontist will then create a treatment plan and take impressions of your teeth, which are submitted to Invisalign. Using the latest advances in 3-D computer technology, Invisalign carefully translates the doctor's instructions into a series of finely calibrated aligners as few as 12 or as many as 48. You'll wear each aligner for about two weeks and only take it out for eating, brushing and flossing. As you replace each aligner with the next, your teeth will move - gradually - week by week, until they move into the final straightened position your orthodontist prescribed.
Generally, you will visit about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.
Invisalign straightens your teeth, not with brackets and wires, but with a series of clear, customized removable appliances called aligners. Consider Invisalign to get the beautiful straight teeth you've always wanted – without braces. Call us to schedule a consultation so we can determine if Invisalign is right for you.
